Uitdagend raceweekend voor Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team in Aragón
Het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team heeft een uitdagend weekend achter de rug tijdens het FIM World Sportbike Championship op MotorLand Aragón in Spanje. Onder warme omstandigheden werkte het team hard aan de afstelling van de Suzuki GSX-8R-machines, maar bleek het lastig om het gewenste gevoel en de benodigde grip te vinden op het Spaanse circuit. Voor zowel Jeffrey Buis als Ferre Fleerackers was het een moeilijk weekend.
Het weekend werd gekenmerkt door zijn extreem hoge temperaturen. De vrijdag begon met de vrije trainingen, gevolgd door de Superpole-sessie. Jeffrey wist zich in de slotfase van de kwalificatie sterk naar een vijfde startpositie te rijden voor de races op zaterdag. Voor Ferre verliep de openingsdag moeizamer op het Spaanse Aragon. Samen met de teamleden werd gedurende de dag gewerkt aan het verbeteren van de afstelling maar meer dan een 24e startposities zat er op dat moment niet in.
Tijdens de eerste race van het weekend op zaterdag kreeg het team te maken met zeer warme omstandigheden. Zowel Jeffrey als Ferre hadden gedurende de wedstrijd veel moeite met grip en glijden van de motorfiets, waardoor het lastig was om aanvallend te rijden en mee te doen in de strijd verder naar voren. Jeffrey wist ondanks de omstandigheden als tiende te finishen en belangrijke punten te scoren voor het kampioenschap. Ferre kwam na een zware wedstrijd als achttiende over de finish.
De tweede race van het weekend verliep moeizaam voor het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team. Na een sterke openingsfase en een goede start van Jeffrey kwam hij helaas al vroeg in de wedstrijd ten val, wat resulteerde in een nulscore. Gelukkig bleef hij zelf ongedeerd. Aan de andere kant wist Ferre het weekend juist op een positieve manier af te sluiten. De Belg vocht zich sterk terug van de 23e startpositie naar een knappe achtste plaats aan de finish. Daarmee scoorde hij toch belangrijke punten voor het kampioenschap.
“Het was gewoon een lastig weekend in Aragon. Ondanks dat hebben we veel geleerd over de Suzuki-machine in deze extreem hoge temperaturen. Maar de resultaten zijn natuurlijk niet waarop we hadden gehoopt. Ook dit hoort er soms bij, hoe jammer het ook is. We blikken vooruit en gaan er weer vol voor in Misano over twee weken. Bedankt aan het complete team voor het werk!”
“Het was zeker geen makkelijk weekend, maar we hebben het uiteindelijk toch op een positieve manier kunnen afsluiten. Vanaf P23 op de grid wist ik terug naar voren te vechten en als achtste te finishen. Ik wil het team enorm bedanken voor het vertrouwen en de steun gedurende het hele weekend. We zijn blijven werken, hebben niet opgegeven en dat werd uiteindelijk beloond. De positieve punten nemen we mee naar Misano, waar we hopen een sterker weekend neer te zetten.
“Het was een weekend met ups en downs voor ons als team. Vanaf vrijdag hebben we hard gewerkt om de juiste afstelling en het gevoel met de motor te vinden onder deze warme omstandigheden. Dat verliep niet altijd makkelijk, maar het team is het hele weekend blijven knokken. Natuurlijk is het jammer hoe het weekend voor Jeffrey eindigde, maar tegelijkertijd sluiten we positief af met de sterke opmars van Ferre naar de achtste plaats. We nemen de belangrijke punten en leerzame momenten mee richting Misano.”
Na een moeilijk maar leerzaam weekend in Aragón richt het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team de blik alweer op de volgende ronde van het FIM World Sportbike Championship. Deze wordt verreden van 12 tot en met 14 juni tijdens de Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round op het Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” in Italië.
The Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team experienced a challenging weekend during the FIM World Sportbike Championship at MotorLand Aragón in Spain. Under extremely hot conditions, the team worked hard throughout the weekend on the setup of the Suzuki GSX-8R machines, but it proved difficult to find the desired feeling and grip at the Spanish circuit. For both Jeffrey Buis and Ferre Fleerackers, it turned into a difficult weekend.
The weekend was marked by extremely high temperatures. Friday started with the free practice sessions, followed by Superpole later in the day. Jeffrey managed to secure a strong fifth place on the grid during the closing stages of qualifying for Saturday’s race. For Ferre, the opening day at MotorLand Aragón proved more difficult. Together with the team, work continued throughout the day to improve the setup, but a 24th starting position was the maximum possible at that stage.
During Saturday’s first race, the team once again faced very difficult conditions. Both Jeffrey and Ferre struggled with grip and excessive sliding throughout the race, making it difficult to attack and fight further towards the front. Despite the circumstances, Jeffrey managed to finish tenth and score important championship points. Ferre crossed the line in eighteenth place after a difficult race.
The second race of the weekend also proved challenging for the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team. After a strong opening phase and a good start, Jeffrey unfortunately crashed in the early stages of the race, resulting in a DNF. Fortunately, the Dutch rider escaped unharmed. On the other side of the garage, Ferre managed to end the weekend on a positive note. The Belgian rider fought his way back strongly from 23rd on the grid to an impressive eighth-place finish, scoring valuable championship points for the team.
“It was simply a difficult weekend in Aragón. Despite that, we learned a lot about the Suzuki machine in these extremely hot conditions. Of course, the results were not what we hoped for. Sometimes that is also part of racing, even if it’s disappointing. We now look ahead and will go for it again in Misano in two weeks. Thanks to the entire team for all the hard work!”
“It definitely wasn’t an easy weekend, but in the end we managed to finish it on a positive note. Starting from P23 on the grid, I fought my way forward to finish eighth. I want to thank the entire team for the trust and support throughout the whole weekend. We kept working, never gave up, and in the end that paid off. We will take the positives with us to Misano, where we hope for a stronger weekend.”
“It was a weekend with ups and downs for us as a team. From Friday onwards we worked hard to find the right setup and feeling with the bike in these hot conditions. That certainly wasn’t always easy, but the team kept fighting throughout the entire weekend. Of course, it’s disappointing how the weekend ended for Jeffrey, but at the same time we can finish positively with Ferre’s strong comeback to eighth place. We take the important points and lessons learned with us to Misano.”
After a difficult but educational weekend in Aragón, the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team is already looking ahead to the next round of the FIM World Sportbike Championship. The next event will take place from June 12 to 14 during the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” in Italy.
