Podium voor Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team in Most
Het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team heeft tijdens de Czech Round van het FIM World Sportbike Championship op Autodrom Most opnieuw belangrijke punten gescoord. Jeffrey Buis behaalde in de eerste race van het weekend een sterke tweede plaats maar scoorde niet tijdens de tweede race. Ferre Fleerackers wist de races als negende en tiende te finishen in Tsjechië.
De donderdag van het raceweekend begon onrustig nadat een probleem met de stroomvoorziening in de WorldSBK-paddock tijdelijk voor vertraging zorgde. Nadat de situatie was opgelost, kon het team de focus volledig richten op de voorbereidingen voor het raceweekend in Tsjechië.
Het weekend in Most begon met een kleine achterstand op de concurrentie, omdat veel Sportbike-teams hier al hadden getest. Maar zowel Jeffrey als Ferre wisten samen met de crew al gauw de juiste weg in te slaan met de afstelling voor de Suzuki GSX-8R-machines. Tijdens de Superpole op vrijdagmiddag wist Jeffrey zich uiteindelijk als elfde te kwalificeren voor de races, terwijl Ferre de dag afsloot op de veertiende positie. Niet helemaal de posities waar op voorhand werd gehoopt, maar de verschillen de kop was klein.
Tijdens Race 1 op zaterdag liet het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team direct een sterkere indruk achter. Beide rijders kende een uitstekende openingsfase en wist zichen al snel naar voren te werken richting de kopgroep. Gedurende de volledige race mengde de Jeffrey zich in de strijd om de overwinning en bleef hij vechten voor de winst. In de slotfase kwam Buis uiteindelijk slechts nipt tekort voor de overwinning, maar met een sterke tweede plaats behaalde het team opnieuw een podiumresultaat. Fleerackers had ook aansluiting bij de kopgroep maar naarmate de wedstrijd vorderde kreeg de Belg echter opnieuw last van arm pump, waardoor het steeds moeilijker werd om het tempo vast te houden. Hij wist deze race uiteindelijk als negende af te sluiten.
De tweede race van het weekend kende een ongelukkig eind voor het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team. Jeffrey werd direct na de start op ongelukkige wijze van zijn motor. In bocht één werd hij geraakt door een andere rijder, waardoor zijn wedstrijd direct ten einde kwam. Gelukkig is Jeffrey oké, maar het incident kostte hem wel kostbare punten in het kampioenschap. Ook Ferre moest uitwijken voor deze valpartij en viel hierdoor terug naar de achterhoede. Ondanks dat wist hij zich sterk terug te vechten naar een tiende plaats.
Jeffrey Buis: “Het was uiteindelijk een weekend met veel positieve punten, omdat we opnieuw hebben laten zien dat we de snelheid hebben. Op zaterdag stonden we op het podium met een mooie tweede plaats. De tweede wedstrijd was van korte duur, want mijn wedstrijd eindigde door een crash tijdens de start waar ik zelf weinig aan kon doen. Gelukkig ben ik oké, maar het is jammer om op deze manier belangrijke punten mis te lopen. We nemen de snelheid en de positieve punten mee richting de volgende ronde. Dank aan het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team voor het werk dit weekend.”
“Het was voor mij persoonlijk een lastig weekend. We hadden niet helemaal de snelheid waar ik op had gehoopt en daarnaast kreeg ik te maken met arm-pump, wat het ook lastiger maakte tijdens de races. Zaterdag kon ik in de beginfase met de kopgroep mee maar al gauw moest ik terrein plaats geven met een tiende plek als resultaat. In de tweede race verloor ik door het incident tijdens de start veel terrein met wederom een tiende plek. Niet het weekend waar we op gehoopt hadden, maar ook hier leren we weer van richting de volgende races.”
“Het weekend in Most kende voor ons twee gezichten. Aan de ene kant hebben we opnieuw laten zien dat we als team de snelheid en potentie hebben om constant mee te doen in de voorhoede van het kampioenschap, met opnieuw een podiumplaats op zaterdag. Aan de andere kant is het natuurlijk jammer hoe het weekend eindigde. Ook dat hoort er soms bij, daarnaast wil ik het complete team bedanken voor hun inzet dit weekend, op naar het volgende weekend.
Hiermee komt een uitdagend maar tegelijkertijd positief weekend in Tsjechië ten einde. De volgende ronde van het FIM World Sportbike Championship vindt plaats van 29 tot en met 31 mei tijdens de Aragon Round op MotorLand Aragón in Spanje. Het Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team kijkt hier met volle vertrouwen naar uit.
The Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team once again scored important points during the Czech Round of the FIM World Sportbike Championship at Autodrom Most. Jeffrey Buis secured a strong second place finish in the opening race of the weekend, while Ferre Fleerackers finished tenth in both races in the Czech Republic.
Thursday of the race weekend started in difficult circumstances after a power supply issue in the WorldSBK paddock caused temporary delays. Once the situation was resolved, the team could fully focus on preparing for the race weekend in the Czech Republic.
The weekend in Most began with a slight disadvantage, as many Sportbike teams had already tested at the circuit earlier. However, together with the crew, both Jeffrey and Ferre quickly found the right direction with the setup of the Suzuki GSX-8R machines. During Friday afternoon’s Superpole session, Jeffrey eventually qualified eleventh for the races, while Ferre ended the day in fourteenth position. Not entirely the positions the team had hoped for beforehand, but the gap to the front remained small.
Race 1 on Saturday immediately showed a much stronger performance from the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team. Both riders made an excellent start and quickly worked their way towards the leading group. Throughout the race, Jeffrey fought for victory and remained in contention until the final laps. In the end, Buis narrowly missed out on the win but secured another podium finish for the team with a strong second place. Fleerackers also stayed with the leading group during the early stages, but as the race progressed, the Belgian rider suffered from arm pump issues, making it difficult to maintain the pace. He eventually finished the race in tenth position.
The second race of the weekend ended in disappointment for the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team. Jeffrey was taken out immediately after the start after being hit by another rider in Turn 1, bringing his race to an early end. Fortunately, Jeffrey was uninjured, but the incident cost him valuable championship points. Ferre was also forced to avoid the crash and dropped to the back of the field. Despite this setback, he fought his way back to another tenth-place finish.
“Overall, there were many positive points this weekend because once again we showed that we have the speed to fight at the front. On Saturday we achieved a nice podium finish with second place. Unfortunately, Race 2 ended very quickly for me after a crash at the start that I could do little about. Luckily I’m okay, but it’s disappointing to lose important points this way. We’ll take the speed and positive aspects with us into the next round. Thanks to the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team for all the hard work this weekend.”
“For me personally, it was a difficult weekend. We didn’t quite have the speed I was hoping for, and I also struggled with arm pump, which made the races more difficult. On Saturday I was able to stay with the leading group during the opening laps, but later on I started to lose ground, resulting in tenth place. In Race 2 I lost a lot of positions because of the incident at the start and again finished tenth. It wasn’t the weekend we hoped for, but we will learn from it and continue working towards the next races.”
“The weekend in Most had two sides for us. On one hand, we once again showed that we have the speed and potential as a team to consistently fight at the front of the championship, with another podium finish on Saturday. On the other hand, it was disappointing how the weekend ended. Unfortunately, that is also part of motorsport sometimes. I would also like to thank the entire team for their commitment and hard work throughout the weekend. Now we focus on the next round.”
This concludes a challenging but at the same time positive weekend in the Czech Republic. The next round of the FIM World Sportbike Championship will take place from May 29 to 31 during the Aragon Round at MotorLand Aragón in Spain. The Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team heads there with confidence.
