Eventful weekend for Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team at Magny-Cours

From September 4 to 6, the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team competed in the Acerbis French Round at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. It proved to be an eventful weekend from the very beginning for the Dutch team, after Jeffrey Buis was unable to compete due to his shoulder injury. At the last minute, Spanish rider Marc Vich was called up as his replacement.

Friday started with an unexpected change to the rider line-up. After it became clear that Jeffrey was not fit enough to race, Marc Vich was brought in as a last-minute replacement. The Spaniard, who currently competes in the Spanish Supersport 300 Championship and has previous experience in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship, missed Free Practice and had to make his first laps on the Suzuki GSX-8R directly in Superpole. Marc qualified in 33rd position, while Ferre Fleerackers set the thirteenth fastest time and secured a start from the fifth row.

During the opening race on Saturday, Ferre delivered a strong performance. The Belgian rider managed to stay with the leading group for a long time and was firmly involved in the battle for the front positions. In the closing stages the group started to split slightly, but Ferre maintained a strong pace and eventually crossed the line in an impressive sixth position. Marc mainly used the race to gain as much experience as possible aboard the Suzuki. After an extremely short preparation and without taking part in Free Practice, he completed the race in 28th position.

Race 2 brought mixed feelings for the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team. Ferre made a strong start and worked his way up from P14 to sixth position during the opening laps. However, he was pushed wide in the chicane and lost several places. The Belgian fought his way back and entered the penultimate corner in P8, before being forced off track once again and dropping back to P12. Despite the final result, Ferre matched the pace of the leading group but just missed the train after the incidents. Marc completed his second race of the weekend in P26, gaining further valuable mileage and experience aboard the Suzuki GSX-8R.

“Mixed feelings about the weekend at Magny-Cours. I’m happy that after a few more difficult weekends, we once again had the pace to run with the leading group. We showed that in Race 1 with a strong sixth-place finish. Unfortunately, the result in Race 2 does not really reflect our true potential after I was forced off track twice and eventually finished twelfth. There were definitely two top-ten results possible this weekend, and that is something we can be satisfied with. Thanks to the whole team for their hard work this weekend.”

“I finished the weekend with a really good feeling on the bike. It was my first time riding a Sportbike, and because I missed Free Practice, I had to jump straight into Superpole and quickly get comfortable with the bike. I’m very happy with the progress we made throughout the weekend. Currently, I’m racing in the Spanish Supersport 300 Championship, so this was a very different and much more physical experience for me. A big thanks to the team for their trust, support and help throughout the weekend.”

“It was a different weekend for our team, especially because of the late rider change before the first sessions. Marc stepped in under difficult circumstances and was able to gain valuable mileage on the Suzuki throughout the weekend. Ferre showed with his sixth place in Race 1 that we had the pace to compete near the front again. Race 2 did not unfold entirely in his favour and he eventually finished twelfth. We mainly take the positive points and the data gathered this weekend with us into the next round. Thanks to the entire team for their work and flexibility throughout the weekend.”

With the French race weekend completed, the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team now turns its attention to the next round. From September 25 to 27, the Italian Round will take place at Cremona Circuit, where the team will begin the penultimate round of the 2026 FIM World Sportbike Championship.
